Onzo speaking at Connected Devices SIG "Big Data, Big Opportunities"
Nick Hunn, Onzo’s CTO, is speaking at the Cambridge Wireless conference taking place at the Cabinet Office in London this week. This Connected Devices SIG – ‘Big Data, Big Opportunities’ event looks at the emerging landscape of ‘big data’, which is fast becoming a reality, bringing with it the challenges of deriving value from data for both individuals and businesses.
Nick will be presenting on the impact of smart metering. Whilst many can't see much beyond the use of smart metering for more accurate billing, the availability of consumption data opens up a whole new market for household services. Onzo has already collected over a trillion energy readings, which we are using for a range of advanced consumer applications. We are already demonstrating the value of big data, using cloud based analytics to detect the energy consumption and operation of individual appliances within the home. Nick will be explaining how this approach can help to increase the level of consumer engagement as well as supporting future development of home energy services, intelligent heating and assisted living support for an ageing population.
As well as Nick, the event is championed by Antony Rix of TTP, Tim Whittaker of Cambridge Wireless and Paul Green of Arkessa. The event looks at companies already using data to drive their business forward, and how, with greater amounts of data being mined and a reduction in collection costs, now could the time for your organization to ‘step forward into this brave new world of information’.
The event is fully booked, but the organisers are running a waiting list for attendance. If you are unable to attend, but would like to hear what Nick has to say please contact us and we’ll set up a meeting for you.
